The Battle Of Self-Discipline

Many people struggle to break bad habits from their past and to create new, healthy habits for their future. It is much easier to continue living in the ways that are normal for us than to battle our way to a better life. If, for example, we are used to watching endless hours of television each night it will certainly be hard for us to win the battle of breaking that habit. It will be even harder to replace television with constructive and healthy ways of spending time such as exercising or reading.

The battle to discipline ourselves is certainly one of the toughest battles that we face. It is much easier just let our lives happen than it is to be intentional in our choices and to proactively form habits rather than sit back while our habits are formed for us.

The road to self-discipline must begin with a deep sense of conviction. We must be convinced not only that victory in the battle is possible, but also that winning the battle of disciplining our lives is important. We will never remain long at a task we think is unimportant. It will always be the things that we place the highest value on that will receive our time and efforts, so each person must come to the place where the condition of their undisciplined life is of enough importance to work on.

Determining that the battle for self-discipline is one worth fighting is the first of many steps to achieving a different kind of life. You must take time to evaluate not only your current life but also the kind of life you want to work toward. This evaluating is basically a process of defining some goals for yourself. What battles do you want to focus on now? Is it important to you to see the old habit of inactivity broken, or will you spend your energies trying to stop smoking first? Do not move forward in trying to battle against your problems until you have clearly defined what they are and how you wish to be.

Once you have your 'battle goals' as we'll call them, the important thing is to simply begin. Begin tackling whatever goal you chose, just be sure that you begin. The hardest stage in any battle is the beginning, so you simply have to choose a day and start. If your eventual goal is to run a marathon you can begin by getting outside and jogging for five minutes. At the beginning stages of battle remember that anything is better than nothing. Days of more severe battle and discipline will undoubtedly come, so for now just get moving.

You will quickly realize that the battle to self-discipline is hard and long. You will also realize, however, that the battle is well worth the fight.

How far you can go?

Each and every one of us has his or her cherished dream. We think about it all the time and do everything possible to realize it. Dream can be a purpose of one’s living and inspire to do a lot of great deeds. Some dream of a quiet life in the country, having a bunch of children and living peacefully till the rest of their days. Someone’s dreams are quite ambitious and eventually they become famous or contribute greatly to the society. But the most certain fact is that everybody wants to travel at least somewhere during their lives. Why do we want to leave our motherland where everything is familiar to see some other wicked places with a completely different culture? Why do our hearts make us go for an adventure?

Every day seems exactly the same to us. Same worries, same duties, same things underhand. It can drive even the most patient and conservative person insane. Wanting more is a quite natural thing for humans. When we get sick and tired of what surrounds us, we long for new impressions and things, to make our lives more interesting. We forget about our duties, belongings, due times, college term papers and take off for the unknown. It can be also characterized as an escape from the society, which stresses you out. Traveling around the globe is an expensive thing, which not everybody can afford. But it doesn’t have to be India or Caribbean where you spend your time resting and getting your thoughts together. You can go to neighboring country and see their culture.

Your being in a completely different surrounding makes you feel better. You forget about all the problems you had, all the arguments you went through, all things that wait for you at home and dive into a completely new world of wonders. You go on excursions that widen your outlook, hang out in different clubs and cafés to communicate with new people or just walk along old streets to get your thoughts together. Traveling is the most exciting thing to do in your free time. This way you get some rest and get to know more not only just for yourself, but for your job or personal life. You can also make friends and use these contacts in your future. But don’t get crazy and decide to spend your vacation in the jungle with some cannibalistic tribe, eating roots and waiting to be eaten. If you decide to go on a trip plan it carefully and decide what you expect from it: civilized world full of aristocratism and modern conveniences or wild jungle with exciting adventures. Everything depends on how far you can go. This trip can turn your life upside down and can be very helpful to you in some aspects of your life. You can even use your experience in that college term paper you stopped writing. A get away is sometimes necessary, but don’t run away too often; you might lose your contacts close to where you’re settled. But this is another question. Should one get settled at all?

Living With Obsessive Compulsive Disorder And Your Fearful Thoughts

Living with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and having to deal with your fearful thoughts can be extremely difficult. It can be tough for people with OCD to have to experience obsessive thoughts that are intrusive, scary, and difficult to manage. As a result, here is a short list of techniques that a person can use to help manage their OCD and their obsessive thoughts

The first thing a person must do is not to dwell or focus on the fear provoking thought when it comes. The more a person tries to reason out the thought or focus on the fear behind the thought, the stronger the thought becomes. The next time you encounter an obsessive thought, get into the practice of not dwelling on it.

From my interviews with various psychologists, I was told that a person should visualize a red stop sign in their mind when they encounter a fear provoking thought. When the negative thought comes, a person should think of a red stop sign which serves as a reminder to stop focusing on that thought and to think of something else. A person can then try to think of something positive to replace the negative thought.

A person should keep a small notebook of positive statements that makes them feel good. Whenever they come across a positive and uplifting verse that makes them feel good, write it down in a small notebook. A person can then carry this notebook around in their pocket and whenever they feel anxious, they can read their notebook.

Sometimes, a person may encounter a lot of scarey thoughts coming at them all at once. Instead of getting upset, remember that these thoughts are exaggerated and are not based on reality. From my interviews with various professionals, I’ve learned that usually it is the fear behind the thoughts that gets us worked up. Ignore the fear behind these obsessive thoughts, regardless how the strong the fear may be. If you ignore the fear behind these thoughts, then the thoughts become easier to manage.

Another thing to remember is that no one can predict the future with 100 Percent certainty. Even if your fearful thoughts tell you otherwise, the fact is that there are circumstances and factors in every situation that can not be anticipated. We may be ninety-nine percent in predicting the future but all it takes is for that one percent to make the biggest difference.

Although I am a Layman and not a professional, I have interviewed many counselors and I learned that there are many ways to deal with these kinds of thoughts. It is also important to seek professional help if you have OCD. There are ways to deal with your obsessive thoughts and with the proper treatment, people with OCD can live a productive life.

Will the Democrats be able to Reverse the Online Gambling Ban

Many people were hoping that if the Democrats won control of Congress they would reverse the online gambling ban, but experts doubt they will even try or that if they do that the will be successful.

Once the bill was passed and signed into law by the president, it became much harder to reverse the law.

The democrats would need to bring up the law and get it to a vote, then after the vote passed it needs to go to the president for his signature. The problem with this is that the current president is the one who signed the bill into law in the first place.

Another problem is because the gambling ban was attached to another bill, it means that to reverse the law the entire bill needs to be reversed, but the other part of the bill is for an increase in port security, so any congressmen who recommends reversing this law, will be going on record as trying to reverse the increase in port security.

Because of this trying to get the law reversed could ruin a congressman’s chances of ever getting elected to public office again for the rest of their lives.

It is more likely that it will have to wait till the end of George Bushes term in office and then get an amendment to the law that reverses only gambling ban part of the law.

So if you are on Online Gambling enthusiast and you were hoping that after the election the online gambling ban would just disappear I am sorry to say you were mistaken and that you are going to have to wait a little longer, but that does not mean you need to sit quietly by.

The key is to make sure that you are heard, write letters to congressmen, and attend protest rallies anything that will keep this issue in the front of the minds of the politicians so they know that just as the Republicans lost the house so can they.

The republicans used the online gambling ban to try to gain votes for them in the last weeks before the election, but it backfired on them and lost them more votes then it brought in.

Hopefully the Democrats will learn from the mistakes of the Republicans and will understand that banning something never works, and that it is only thru regulating the online gambling industry that will ensure that it is safe and honest to play and that no underage children manage to play.
Other wise I am sure that the Democrats will also see the wrath of the American voters when it comes time for the next elections.

The American people are tired of having the government controlling every aspect of their lives and I think this election may have made their point for them.

So if the question is will they try to reverse the law I am sure they will try, but how successful they will be is still up in the air, and no one can really know what the outcome will be.

Marriage is one of the most enjoyable but also one of the most painful experiences that people undergo. It carries with it the whiff of romance and eternal bliss, but sometimes you get a pack of thorns instead.

Look around. How many divorces do you know? Plenty. Me too. But are they really happier off?

What is the first thing that a divorced person does? He or she goes out and starts looking for partners.

Playing brings out the child in us and causes us to express more than we normally would. We also release bottled up frustration and let go of mental thorns in our outbursts of joy and anguish as we win or lose. Games unite people together and therefore I suggest playing together but if you wish one can play against the other. The game turns into a battle but only this time, after its over, you will both feel refreshed from losing all that bottled up pain and anger.

Games to Pick From:
Try picking games that both of you like or at least somewhat active ones. You could even play hide and seek in the house or something else. If you do prefer playing cards, pick a game which does not go on for long and which requires some thinking like hearts, poker, bridge or rummy. Keep score and determine before hand that the loser has to do something for the winner. Chores is not a prize for the winner! If you lose you have to do something that that the other person wants for themselves like give them their favorite massage or cook them their favorite meal.

Conclusion:
Games are a welcome ambrosia to love and will excite you as a couple to disregard all your frustrations and anger and deal only with the good. The anger and frustrations will not magically disappear, but now you can deal with them together calmly and in a good mood.

Reaccurring Chase Dreams Can Be Trying To Tell You Something

Having dreams of being chased are one of the universally common dreams. Unfortunately, these are dreams that will sometimes follow one all throughout their life. Most dream interpretation experts feel that chase dreams are reflections of anxiety or pressure that is going on in the dreamer’s life.

Chase dreams can exhibit themselves in a range of ways. Often the dreamer is being chased by someone that they fear will harm them or even kill them. These dreams are many times so realistic that the dreamer will be frightened for a few minutes even after waking up.

So what is it in our waking state that causes us to be chased in our dreams? Perhaps there is something that we know we must do but for whatever reason we have been avoiding. This action that we are avoiding could be the attacker in our dream. Instead of facing the task and taking action we choose to run away from it. So this dream represents the things that you are trying to get away from or avoid like a bad relationship, a job that we hate, maybe even a book report that’s due.

It’s said that if you have been troubled by the same reoccurring chase dream you can examine what is going on in your life that you are trying to avoid, confront it and the chase dreams go away.

Some times the attacker in the dream is not something that you are avoiding but can even be yourself. Unsettled feelings of resentment, anger and fright can often enter your dreams in the form of the threat of an attacker. Again, in reality the attacker is just a representation of your life.

Sometimes you can resolve a dream by confronting the attacker in the dream. This can be difficult for some people as they are unable to take an active role in the dream state, if you are able to though, give it a shot. Ask the attacker what they want why are they chasing you, you may find the answer to your wake state trouble right from the attacker.

Of course chase dreams do not always have symbolic meaning. Sometimes dreams where you are being chased simply represent a fear of being a victim to crime. This type of direct fear dreams are more common in women than in men. Women, in particularly those living in high crime areas, often feel in danger in their waking lives, and this fear just carries over into their dream state.

It doesn’t really matter why you are having these chase dreams, it is generally possible to reduce or eliminate them simply by examining the cause of these dreams in the first place.

La Nueva Cara de James Bond

La reciente versión de James Bond "Casino Royale" ha traído al agente James Bond un nuevo actor que no solo ha cambiado su personalidad, pero también su actitud y ha traído un nuevo estilo sensual, frió y asesino al Agente.

El actor que lo protagoniza es Daniel Craig, quien nunca antes había aparecido en una James Bond, pero que sin embargo ha podido traerle al popular personaje una cara diferente a la usual. Esta vez James.

Bond no es tan simpático ni tan amistoso, es mas bien un chico malo que cuando se pone un objetivo es difícil detenerlo y lo hará a pesar de tener que lastimar o tener que matar a otros.

El actor se ha preparado para protagonizar a James Bond seriamente haciendo ejercicio y formando su cuerpo de una increíble manera. Ha impactado a todas las espectadoras con su increíble figura(Especialmente en la escena en que sale del mar), y ha enamorado en escena a la actriz Eva Grin, quien después logra engañarlo a el.

Comparado a otros actores que protagonizaron a James Bond en el pasado, como Pierce Brosnan o Sean Connery , David logro sacarle al personaje algo que nunca había salido antes. Un carácter más egoísta, determinado, seguro y luchador que no duda un segundo de sus acciones.

Fue realmente sorprendente ver como en esta nueva versión de James Bond, el agente se desenvuelve en secuencias brillantes de máxima acción que nunca había habido en ningún otro James Bond. La diferencia entre este y otros Bond también es que el personaje es mucho mas real que en otros casos. Todavía cuenta con los lugares exóticos, los increíbles autos, mujeres hermosas pero sin el tono irreal que contaban otros James Bond.

Aquí sin duda James Bond es mucho más sadista, quien se convierte en un asesino de sangre fría con poca simpatía por los demás trayendo una actitud dura y audaz la cual David Craig la personifica excelente.

También es importante mencionar el juego de poquer del final en el Casino Royale, igual de entretenido que los momentos de acción del principio de la película.

La actuación de la actriz francesa Eva Grin también ha convertido a la chica Bond en alguien difícil de descifrar quien atrapa al agente desenvolviéndose en la trama con un final inesperado. Podrás ver al final de la película un lado de Bond que no piensas que existe en el, ni creías que verías durante toda la trama.

Además de todo lo mencionado previamente, no hay duda que este James Bond esta dedicado no solo a los hombres que buscan acción, autos espectaculares y chicas Bond deslumbrantes. Esta vez a las mujeres nos dieron al increíble David Craig quien es el centro de atracción de la película.

La película estrenada en 2006, dirigida por Martin Campbell ha logrado traer al querido personaje de Bond un estilo renovador, interesante, frió e indomable que sin ninguna duda te hará disfrutar de la pantalla grande.

Regardless of whether you are a student, work at home mom, a web designer, or a CEO of a Fortune 500 company, prioritizing your work is critical to your success. Failing to prioritize your work load usually results in being extremely inefficient and extremely stressed out. How many times have you thought to yourself “I have so much to do today, how am I ever going to get it all done?”

There is no exact science to prioritizing, but there are several tips that should help you become a more efficient, less stressed version of your current self:

* Make a list – this may seem obvious but you’d be surprised at how many people try to organize their tasks in their head. You’ll often find that you feel a lot better just getting everything out so that you can see it in one place.

* Consider time constraints – what absolutely needs to get done today and what can wait until tomorrow or next week. Everything may be important eventually, but some things are more important now.

* Consider people constraints – all things equal, move things that other people are waiting on to the top of the list. If you know that your manager can’t finish his proposal without your part, that’s more important than the thing that you always do on Wednesday that could just as well be done on Thursday.

* Consider the consequences – are you going to get fired if you don’t do something? Is another task going to give you the inside track on that promotion? Those things should be more important than mildly inconveniencing the sales manager by responding to their email a day late.

* Re-prioritize as necessary – let’s face it, priorities change. As they do, update your list. It will give you a sense of control over the situation.

* Remove unimportant items – is there something on your list that you always push to the bottom and never end up doing? Then get it off the list. It doesn’t belong there.

* Don’t list EVERYTHING – only list crucial tasks. You don’t need to list routine tasks (like lunch) or menial tasks (like checking your email). Also, you’re going into too much detail if you put down prioritizing as a task.

* Do everything you can to keep your list small – this means saying NO sometimes. You are not other people’s gopher. Do your work and help other people with theirs when you have something to offer, but don’t do their work for them. Along the same lines, learn to delegate things to the people that are supposed to be doing them. Why book your plane tickets when you have an assistant for that?

How to Play Texas Holdem, For Beginners

Texas Holdem is by far the most common for of poker played today due to is popularity there are even several TV shows of the game. Besides being popular texas Holdem is also the best game for a beginner to learn, the game can be learned after a few minutes and afte just a few hours of practice you can be playing fairly well against other beginners, but to really get good you must play often.

Texas Holdem is played the same way in the casino, online casinos and in your home with your pals.

Texas Holdem is played in the following manner:
1. Betting structures can vary. In Texas Holdem rarely are antes used. Most Texas Holdem games start with first two players on the dealers left placing predetermined bets. These players are called the small and large blind, and their bets are called posting the blinds.

2. Each player receives 2 cards face down. These cards are called you pocket cards and they are the only cards that are unique to you.

3. After each player is dealt their hole cards a round of betting takes place starting with the player to the left of the 2 blinds this round of betting is called the pre-flop. Just like in any other poker game a player can call raise of fold during their turn.

4. After the Pre-Flop round is over the dealer will remove the top card from the deck and discard it, this is called the Burn Card. This is done to make sure that no cheating is done. The dealer will then turn over 3 cards in the center of the table. This round is called the Flop. Any player may use any of these cards to make the best 5 card hand possible, but you are not allowed to actually touch the cards, each player can use the same cards if it help them, this is why your hole cards are so important.

5. As with the pre-flop there is now another round of betting, it is at this point you will start to see players folding.

6. After the betting is over, the dealer will burn another card, then deal the fourth of the communal cards. This card is called the Turn card

7. Again another round of betting begins and now is when you will start to see the size of the pot really grow.

8. One last time the dealer burns the top card before turning over the last card of the game, called the River card. Players now have all 5 of the communal cards and their own hole card to make the best 5 card hand.

9. One last chance is given to raise the bets or get out of the game. After this each player still in the game will show their cards. This is called the Showdown. The player with the best hand is declared the winner and wins the pot.

Now that you know the basic order of the game you are ready to start playing Texas Holdem. Holdem is a simple game to learn but if hard to master. This is the part that will take you many hand and many dollars, but if you put in the time you will be rewarded for it.

The Definition Of Perseverance

The definition of perseverance, from a dictionary: "Persisting in or remaining constant to a purpose, idea or task in spite of obstacles." Given that defintion, you can see that perseverance can clearly be a both a good thing and a bad thing. Sometimes, when you find yourself wanting to quit something, that might be the wisest choice.

A New Definition: Wise Perseverance

"Persisting in or remaining constant to a purpose, idea or task in spite of obstacles, when such persistence is congruent with higher values." In other words, if in your hierarchy of values, happiness ranks higher than money, don't persist in making money in ways that cause you to be unhappy. If making money is ranked higher than a particular business, you might need to quit the business when you see a better way. Persist in the pursuit of your values, but not necessarily in the means to achieve them.

The problem with the idea that you should quit when something isn't worth the effort, is that it's often used as a rationalization. The idea of quitting comes to mind when the effort is difficult, but really does serve your purposes. This is confusing at times, so how do you wisely persevere? Here are three ways.

1. Watch yourself objectively: Note when you look for excuses, rather than the truth. Ask questions. Is it possible you're letting fear or laziness cause you to quit or to procrastinate? Is there a pattern in your life that is repeating here?

Honestly and objectively watching ourselves is difficult. You can probably think of a time when you saw that a friend was lying to himself about something. Your perspective was more objective than his. Why not use this objectivity of an "outsider" to catch your own little lies? Before quitting anything, explain your reasoning to a friend, and ask him to honestly tell you what he thinks. He's more likely than you to recognize your rationalizations.

2. Look at costs and benefits: To wisely persevere, you need to see the costs and benefits of what you are doing. If moving to Hollywood to become a star is going to cost you your business or family life, you have to see that clearly before you decide. An honest and good decision requires honest and good information, and when you are more certain about your decision, you are more likely to find the strength to persevere.

3. Learn to motivate yourself: When you've made a decision, and you're sure you made it for the right reasons, you have to motivate yourself. In fact, perseverance requires that you regularly re-motivate yourself. Write goals down, do daily affirmations, and whatever else works for you.

Start watching yourself, and make self-awareness a habit. Get used to analyzing costs and benefits objectively. Find ways to motivate yourself. Do these three things and you will wisely persist. That's a more useful definition of perseverance.

Why casinos need 24 hour day care

Recently in the news across the USA there have been several reports of parents leaving their children locked in their cars, while the parents sit in a casino and gamble.

A great way to stop this from happening would be to legalize online gambling so that parents that can not afford a baby sitter will not do something as stupid as locking a small child in a car alone for several hours.

Another solution would be for the casino industry to take responsibility of the people they lure in with promises of riches beyond belief. If the casinos all offered 24 hour free daycare for all casino players those parents who are so far gone in their addiction will not have to make the decision of what to do with their children, they can just take them to the casino and let them be watched after in the casinos daycare centers.

As well as making sure children are not being neglected by their parents or legal guardians, the children in their care can be checked for signs of abuse and any parent that brings a child regularly to the casino can be talked to about gambling addiction.

Please do not get me wrong I feel the parents should be the ones taking responsibility for their kids, but gambling addiction is a disease, and at least this would provide a way for the government to monitor parents gambling habits, and to provide them with help if they need it.

Besides being the right move for the casinos to make for its own civic duty, it also makes good business sense. If the casinos offer such a service they also open themselves up to single parents that could use a little time for some adult fun, and by making the day care 24 hours a day there is no reason why a parent would leave their kid at home instead of at the casinos free daycare.

The parents could relax and have a little fun with the knowledge that their kids are being taken good care of.

This is not a new concept there are several casinos in Las Vegas that offer day care. These centers offer children of different ages fun things to do, such as all the popular videos, and games fro kids. This will appeal to people with kids. Understanding Depression

Everyone can agree on the fact that depression is a debilitating disease. What we can’t all seem to agree on however, is what this disease does to a person’s ability to think reason and perceive. The problem in coming to an agreement here lies in the many causes and physical reactions to depression.

Common cause of depression include biochemical factors, severs stress, a sense of hopelessness, lack of sunlight and illogical thinking. The biochemical factors and sunlight are physical and environmental conditions that can be corrected with prescribed drugs or light exposure. What however can a person do about stress and feelings of hopelessness, and are these conditions causes of depression or symptoms of depression. It is within the confines of the medical profession that conversations such as this have raged for years.

Some researchers believe that stress and feelings of overwhelming hopelessness are the causes of depression, while others believe they are symptoms of depression. Research conducted supports both conclusions. Further studies have supported lent even more support to the evidence that stress, changes in expectancies, and irrational or hopeless thoughts are a result of depression, not a cause.

But what effect does depression have on our ability to think and reason? Do all our thoughts become illogical and negative? Not all depressed persons experience the same changes in their thoughts, but do all depressed persons experience some change in the thought process? Questions such as these are hotly debated even now, with all the wealth of information available to scientists and doctors. The brain is such a complex machine, that understanding of the processes and the ability to relate certain processes to the application of the masses is slow to come.

In general the depressed person sees the cup as half empty, not half full. That’s not to say that some of the population, without any evidence of depression will still see the cup as half empty. Can you see the difficulty of the situation here? There are many symptoms of depression that exist even within the thoughts of people with no evidence of depression. How do scientists and doctors distinguish, for the purpose of setting clear guidelines? I don’t believe they can.

I believe our thought process is like a fingerprint. Everyone’s is different in some way. No two people will be the same in their thoughts, or in their ability to act on those thoughts. Treatments for illogical and depressed thoughts will always be a tailor-made situation.

What Is It About The Commute That Drains Me?

On the surface, this is a no-brainer – it’s everything about the commute itself. The time involved, the energy it takes, and - did I mention the time involved? Underneath it though, there are many other factors that go into making us feel drained during the commute, and they can be very different for each person. If your goal is to alleviate the stress of the commute, then it helps to understand what it is that actually is causing the stress in the first place.

For example, is it the distance, the traffic, the amount of time sitting in one place, fears of breaking down or having an accident? Or could it be that when someone else is in control, forcing you to give up your control - for example to a pilot, a bus driver, or a conductor - it sap your energy or makes you tense.

Understanding what causes you to become tense and putting a name to it will help you on your way to overcoming the impact of this stress. A good time to think about these issues is when you are commuting. It will give you a more accurate way to identify the causes of the stressful commute.

How to Prepare for a Long Flight

The first thing I like to do is to get as little sleep as possible the night before I fly, this way by the time I get to the plane I can hopefully just go to sleep and wake up at my destination. I only recommend this if you are able to perform any tasks you need to do before your flight. If you have to drive for 5 hrs first you may want to get a good night sleep, and maybe take some Tylenol pm or something else to make you drowsy. Many people like to get a little drunk on a flight, I am not one of them, but if it helps you relax and get some sleep then I say go for it, just don’t allow yourself to drink to the point where you become an obnoxious drunk on a plane.

My next tip is to get to the airport 3 hours in advance, this is for 2 reasons. By getting there so early I am always one of if not the first to actually check in for my flight, which usually gets me a good seat, and I don’t have to wait in long lines. The other reason for always getting t the Air port at least 3 hrs before your flight is, if you check in early you cant get bumped from the plane, the people who get there last minute sometime here the words overbooked.

Things to pack in your carry on:

When ever possible I try to avoid putting things under the plane, but sometimes it is unavoidable, depending on how long I am going away for. What you take with you on the plane can make a big difference between having a pleasant flight and being so unbelievable bored that you go mad.

I always make sure to bring a fully charged MP3 player, my MP3 player hold 20 gigs of music so I never have to go into my bag to chance a CD or a memory card, and I have way more music to listen to then time to listen to it. This way I have the music for any mood I may be in, so I just load it up and listen as I fall asleep on the plane.

Just incase I cant sleep I will also make sure to bring a book with me, if for whatever reason I can not fall asleep which does happen to me, I like to take my mind off things by getting lost in a good story, but something light and entertaining, I have always found a good Action book or even Science Fiction to be good for that.

I also recommend bringing a thick soft sweater with you on the plane, this can be used if it is cold on the plane, or you can use it as an extra pillow.

I like to play video games, so I travel with one of the new hand held video games everywhere I go, so if I am not in the mood for reading I can play some games and keep myself occupied, and that really is the key. Keep yourself busy on the plane and you will be amazed at how fast the flight goes, if you stare at the clock and focus on the planes progress it will feel like forever.

How to play animals

While sitting around with friends this weekend I discovered the greatest card game ever. The name of the game is Animals, and the game is very easy to learn, easy to play and a great source of entertainment.

The game is not a gambling game but gambling can be done easily enough, but I would not expect to see this game in your local casino anytime soon.

I suspect the game started out as a memory game for children, then was taken you young adults and turned into a drinking game, but it does not matter if you are gambling with this game, drinking with this game or just trying to have a fun evening with friends, because it is fun whatever you are playing for.

The best way to play the game is with at least 4 people but no more then 8. You will also need 2 or 3 decks of cards to play Animals and a table for everyone to sit around.

Before the game starts each player must choose an animal noise and a hand gesture to represent them in the game and going around the table each player must announce the name of their animal, the sound the animal makes and its hand gesture. An example of this would be to say I am a cat, meow and the hand gesture may be wiping your face with the back of your hand.

In this game the dealer remains standing the entire round. The dealer will go around the table continuously dealing 1 card to each player until all the cards have been dealt. The dealer must stay at a steady pace and go not too fast and not too slow.

the players must continuously scan the other players top cards and when someone has the same number card on top of their pile as you, you have to make that persons sound and hand gesture. If you do it before they do you get all their cards.

That person is not out of the game the next time the dealer goes around they still get another card. The person with the most cards at the end of the game winds, and is the dealer for the next round.

For kids this is a great game because they have to remember everyone's noise and gesture, this is a fun way for them to help develop their memories, and a great way to get them away from the television for a little while.

For those looking to gamble this game may not earn you as much as playing Blackjack but it is a lot if fun to sit around and make fools of yourselves and make a few bucks. All you have to do is set an amount and everyone puts their money into a pot and the winner gets the pot. It does not get any easier then that.

Mindfulness And Mental Health Improvement

What's going on in your head? Until you know, there can be all sorts of problems. Uncorrectable problems. You can't fix a problem that you don't see, right? That is where mindfulness comes in. Mindfulness and mental health are intimately connected.

Your mind is busy in there right now, talking about all sorts of things. It may be telling you that you are tired of your job, or that you are a victim of circumstance. It may be running through a list of all the things you need to be doing. It may be saying all the wrong things, and yet you may hear none of it. You may just feel a slight anxiety building as your day goes on.

When I first learned how to do basic mindfulness exercises, I was amazed. I found that whole conversations were going on just below consciousness. Not only was it interesting to see, but the most amazing part was that I could now often end feelings of worry or anxiety. All I had to do was stop and watch my mind until I found the cause.

Yes, it actually is often that simple. If you forgot to write down an appointment, for example, it may be bothering you for hours. As soon as you see that, you write it down and you feel relaxed again. If an argument is playing and replaying subconsciously in your mind and stressing you out, often just bringing it to consciousness will make you laugh and dismiss it.

Mindfulness And Long Term Mental Health

Don't underestimate the power of short term happiness and good thoughts to influence the course of your mental health over the longer term. Resolve anxieties and stresses now, and regularly, and you'll be healthier, and you'll be developing good habits. Good feelings now lead to good feelings in the future, and habits are what we need for any long term results.

As for the big problems, mindfulness is a way to see them more clearly for what they are. As you get better at tuning into your own subconscious mind, you will start to see patterns. I found, for example, that my mind was mulling over and worrying about all the possible choices in decisions that weren't made. It caused me endless stress.

Seeing this clearly, finally recognizing how destructive this habit of indecisiveness was, lead me to change. I started making decisions more quickly, just to try a new way. I immediately experienced how stress diminishes once a decision is made. My habits began to change, and I was getting more done with less anxiety.

The most basic mindfulness exercise is to just sit quietly and start paying attention to everything going on in your body and mind. Of course this can be difficult if you've never done it, and this article isn't a how-to. This is just to make the case that it's worth learning. There is definitely a connection between mindfulness and mental health.

How to get back in shape

Before starting to work out make sure you get a full physical from your doctor and a letter stating it is ok for you to do physical activity. Many gym and aerobic centers will require this before letting you start.


Depending on how long it has been since you last did regular exercise it is recommended that you start off slow and gradually build up your workout to harder levels.


It is generally recommended to start off at the gym with just the treadmill and the lifecycle for the first week or 2. This is to wake the muscles up and to slowly get you prepared for a harder workout.

You will generally want to find a speed on the treadmill that is a pace you can keep up with little discomfort and do it for 20 minutes. After this take a 5 minute break, stretch a little and have a drink of water, then go back and increase the speed just a bit then do another 20.

Remember that pushing yourself too far is taking a gamble that you may not be able to live with. In a casino you can put everything you have on the roulette table and maybe you win and maybe you lose, but in the gym if you push too hard you can die, so take things slowly.

Many people make the mistake of getting back into an exercise program and going all gung ho an trying to get back in shape in just one hour, well let me tell you this will not work. The only thing this will do is make you very sore the next day and you will not be able to workout that day, and it will make you lose interest fast in the gym. Discomfort in ok pain is not.

Depending on how long it has been since you last worked out, I recommend working out 4 or 5 days a week. This may seem like a lot but if you were trying to win a poker tournament you would go to a casino or an online casino and poker room to practice almost every day right? So you will have to do the same with the gym.

Working out 5 days a week does not necessarily mean you have to go to the gym every day. I recommend the gym 3 times a week and the other day or 2 you can just go for a long fast paced walk around your neighborhood. Try to vary the things you do so that you do not work out the same parts of your body 2 days in a row.

Most professionals will tell you that if you work out your arms and chest on a Monday do not exercise those muscles again for at least 48 hours. This is to give the muscles time to heal and grow. It is this straining and resting of the muscle that makes it grow not just the working it out. If all you did every day was work the same muscle group in a few days the muscle would be more likely to tear in a painful experience and the only thing you will be able to do for several months will be playing in an online casino from your laptop in bed.

Many articles supply answers, but here I do not. Here, I ask the questions. If you want to rack your brains for finding the answers to these life conundrums. But, I warn you. Beware. These are not easy, and though somewhat hilarious and funny, they are real and true to life.

Should I begin? Ok, here I go:

1) How come Tarzan has no bears even though he grows up with wolves in the jungle?

2) Why does glue not stick to the insides of the tube or can that it comes in?

3) Why do they use sterile injections when executing someone who is condemned to death?

4) Why do we press down harder and harder or the remote controls even though we know that the batteries are low?

5) Why is it that when someone hits us in the ankles with his supermarket trolley and then appologizes, do we say that everything is ok? I mean, things are not really fine. Why is it that we do not say that it hurts?

6) Why is it that whatever the color of the bath soap, the bubbles are always white?

7) Why is it that you will never find a day when mattresses are not on sale?

8) Why is it that online casinos always offer big prize money for their tournaments but never reveal the real name of the winner after the competition is over?

9) If human beings evolved from monkeys, why is it that there still are monkeys?

10) Why did the Japanese Kamikaze pilots wear helmets during the second World War?

11) Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest but, then, duck when the empty gun is thrown at him.

12) Why do banks charge a commission when you go into debt even though they know that there is no money in that account?

13) Why do people go back again and again to the refrigerator hoping that something new to eat will appear there?

14) Why do people move their vacuum cleaner over a thin thread lying on the floor, bend down, pick it up, examine it, and then, place it on the floor again and move the vacuum over it again?

15) Why do people believe it when they are told that there are more than four billion stars, but when they see a sign that says wet paint, they have to touch and check?

16) Why does a plastic bag not open at the end where you first try to open it?

17) Why do you never hear jokes about father in laws?

18) Why are there dead insects inside enclosed electric lamps?

19) Why is it that in winter we try and keep the house as warm as it was during the summer when back in the summer we hated the heat?

20) Why is it that every time you try and catch something that is about to fall off the table, you always hit something else and drop that instead?

Let’s face it, the ability to read faster, and still comprehend what you’re reading, is an essential skill in today’s fast moving environment. We must read extensively if we want to be successful in our studies, or careers.

There’s no doubt, learning to speed read is probably the most valuable and time saving skill you can acquire. Frankly, under today's information pressures you must read faster and read better if you are to get ahead at all.

Of course, some people will say you can do fine without knowing how to speed read. WRONG! Problem Solving Strategies

What could you use a few good problem solving strategies for? New ideas for your business, perhaps. New ways to deal with your children. To come up with different approaches to building things, writing stories, or finding a job. Whatever the purpose, here are a couple powerful problem solving strategies.

Use Your Unconscious Mind

Use your unconscious mind to do your problem solving. Start by outlining a problem in your mind before going to sleep. Then tell your brain to go to work. Albert Einstein had good luck with this technique, sometimes getting his "ah-ha" insights while shaving the next morning.

Instruct your mind to keep working on the problem while you do other things. There is more than we know going on inside our heads. If you first work on a problem, then move on to other things while waiting for and expecting a solution, an answer may come to you when you least expect it.

You can also try working on problems when you are in a drowsy state. This is usually an "Alpha" state, and can result in more creative solutions. This is one of the best problem solving strategies for artistic work.

A Systematic Problem Solving Strategy

Train yourself to solve problems with one or more techniques. Just use a technique for several weeks, and it should become a habit. Here are a few to try:

1. Assumption-challenging. If you are assuming you need a better or higher-paying job, ask "do I really need a better job?" You could get a raise, or somehow make the job you have better. Starting a business on the side might be an option too. Never let your assumptions limit the possible solutions.

2. Solve the parts. To buy a house is a big move that is really a bunch of small steps, which is true of many problems. Address the components of a problem individually, and it may not seem so overwhelming. It is easier to motivate yourself in this way.

3. Ask other people. Whether or not they have good ideas, this helps you be sure you're not overlooking anything obvious.

4. Write the problem down. Find another way to express the problem and write that down. Keep writing down solutions and ideas that come to mind. Later you can pick the diamonds out of the dirt.

5. Change perspective. What if you were rich, poor, a child, a visitor from another planet? How would you see the problem from this new perspective? Einstein imagined riding on a beam of light, which lead to his theory of relativity, so this technique has been known to work.

There are dozens of good techniques you can use to solve problems. There are also other general methods, like clearing a space to work in, or alternating between intense analysis and intuitive daydreaming. However many ways there are, though, it is using them that counts. If used well, you only need a few good problem solving strategies.

Need A Lift? Try A Success Program…

If you are like most people at some time in their life you have or you will enter a rut in life. Sometimes this rut is referred to as the mid-life crisis, some times it is called the prodigal period, but whatever it is called the same basic ingredients exist. They are questioning the meaning and direction of your life and evaluating whether or not you should make changes (often major) and how you should go about doing them. Often it is brought on by a feeling of discontentment in the place that they are in life compared to where they wanted to be. In short they feel that they are not achieving the success that they can and want to change that. I want to suggest that these people try out (or at least look into) a success program.

What is a success program? Well it can be a lot of different things really. They range in value and quality just like anything else and it is good to keep in mind that you often pay for what you get. What the essence of the program should be is how to change whatever you are doing to adjust your trajectory in order to achieve the things that you are setting out to do. This mainly has to do with adjusting your thinking.

These programs are often a conference in a nice (often exotic) location that allows people to break away from whatever might be holding them back in their home place and invigorates them for success. After all if a success program didn’t get people “up” for success then it really couldn’t be called successful could it? Any way there is often a guest speaker most of the time someone with two things. One a gift for motivation which requires a certain personality that is supposed to be infectious and persuasive. And two a story of the time in their life when they went through a similar phase and how they got out of it. They are often very successful and can prove it with real life dollars and cents figures that convince people they are just a bunch of fluff.

There often are books at these events that allow people to take the message home to ponder it and there are many times different “specialty” workshops that allow people to hone in on their area of expertise or interest. Again the major goal of a success program is to make people change their way of thinking that allows them to change the course of their future. The mind is a powerful thing and if you can get it bent on success rather than futility, you have done a wonderful and potentially life altering thing for them!
